lowering springs testimonials thread?

Hi everyone,

i want my car to handle better through the curves. I currently have the TRD RSB, and considering to get either the TRD or the Eibachs.

for those who have this setup, how big of a difference was it and is it worth it? or should i just go coilovers? main goal here is to make it handle better through the turns with less body roll?... any suggestions are appreciated!

They are the same. Eibach rebagdes them for TRD.
I have the TRD's and I really like my setup. I see some cars bouncing down the road I'm sure feeling ever bump in the road.
It look's almost stock. But handles very nice.

I would let you know that Eibach springs give a 0.2" lower ride then TRD springs (made by Eibach).

I've this setup and I'm pleased but I never try out any C/O so I cannot tell if Teins C/O are good on performance point of view. At least your weight balance would be lower with the C/O. I would like so much that JIC Magic test their product for our car...maybe you could be the one !!!

Money no object get the coilovers hands down. Tein is the best.

It's hard to make a blanket statement like that, since;

There is ONLY one Coilover application for the Gen 2 solara and that is Tein SS.

And

Have you ever riden in a Gen 2 with Coilovers? I don't believe you have them, correct me if I am wrong?

Coming from a person who has driven in a Gen2 with Tein CO's, they ride okay, the ride for me is too soft (even at the hardest setting), but the canyon carving handling is amazing. The most important part is the adjustability of the ride height, which is phenomenal. I am comparing this to Gen 2's with Tein springs on Sport struts, Eibach on sport struts, And those same springs on SLE struts. Yes, The Tein's are better than the OEM struts, but there are no other aftermarket struts for the Gen 2, which will never compare to Coilovers.

Camrazy~ I haven't ridden in a lowered solara, my point of reference
was my friends Audi A4 with HR+bilstein susp, another A4 with KONI CO

the're cars are solid without any other suspension mod, and although I don't drive as hard as they do, I just want the car to be more responsive, without breaking the bank acct.

anyone othr thoughts? or any volunteers in so cal to give me a quick spin in theirs? :lol:

i got a diaper for you milt

i have eibachs and se sport struts on my gen2, the ride is ok but i was it more stiff. soon to switch to coilovers after winter. .

yeah, uhm....I would say my knowledge in automotive basics is enough to tell you that true coilovers will provide better handling than any spring setup alone. On top of that, $1300 > $300 its safe to assume that performance will also increase with such a large $$ jump

I was only referring to what he asked about, better handling. I have no experience with ride quality.

Uh huh, Don't you think that we know that CO's are far superior by reading that from the internet?? As far as your statement "Teins are Better", How would you know?? Do you have them on your Gen2 Solara ??? Or is it something you read on one of those honda forums and now you want to preach it about it (don't believe everything you read kid) ??. I am not questioning your "knowledge", What I am asking is if you have ever riden your gen 2 with COs??? Or any Gen2 for that matter?

Also, I believe the question at hand is "Testimonials" not "I know all my Automotive Basics, even though I do not have coilovers on my solara or ever have on any car, but will testify they are the Greatest since I have read about it".

Bottom line Tein's are the only choice.

angry much? I've tried numerous coilovers on my 2001 prelude, and myself and everyone else on preludeonline.com agree's that the tein's are a hands-down winner.

Oh please, You are jumping to conclusions. You know it is hard to convey the correct emotions when anyone writes on line. I don't know you to be angry at you, it is the internet man, my simple question to you was "where are you getting your evidence from? Is it YOUR solara?". I could say "JIC's are the best" or "Ksports are best", but I won't, not like I never had them, because I did have them on my old solara and my camrys but that's not the question at hand. That's all, but I am not upset at you or anyone for that matter (actually this thread just made me smile but you cannot see that),

As for issues, it seems you may have some comprehensive ones, don't read too much into what gets written. The fact is, you don't have any aftermarket suspension on your solara so where do you come in with your opinion about it?

Anyway, Milt is right - you really don't have many choices, and to answer the OP's question, I have TRD springs on Sport struts and I can't remember what the ride is like because I still have this damn Whiteline FSB on here and it handles like it's on a slot car track but rides like I have no shocks at all!

When I get my OEM FSB back on, I'll have to take it easy because I'm sure it will feel like I'm driving a big Caddy again.

Gotta save up for COs - only way to go! :up:
