Something like this was brought up in a thread in the tutorial forum...

There we are. I'm pretty sure this does nothing to help a motor gain extra HP though :-?

Hole #1. Dude wants $12 + shipping for what you can figure out and implement for nearly zero.

Hole #2. I'd have to see a print of the flow routes, but I doubt there's a lot of real heating there. Probably just enough of a trickle to keep the TB moving in subzero. That's direct heating since the moving parts are attached. Air rushing by would pick up so little of that heat unless they had some serious heat exchanging going on. See any fins in your TB? No.

But do it and see what happens. And post a tutorial.

In theory, this looks like a good idea at first; I've even given it a thought before. This reminds me of the heat-passage-blockers hot rodders used to install between the cylinder head and intake manifolf on old V8s. The idea is that colder air is less dense (meaning more oxygen for combustion) and cooler fuel molecules burn more controllably. This allows you to run more timing and leaner mixtures without detonation, and this does equal more power. The downside to this is that cars start easier and run better (with less emisions) when cold with this type of heating system left in place. My own take on this: DON'T DO IT unless your ride is tuned to the hilt, and you can't get it to run on pump gas. Todays cars are designed to run with this coolant passage, and some designs may actually run hotter without this installed (if the throttle body is close enough to a high heat area, the only thing keeping it under 200 degrees would be the coolant). The passage is not a fluke; it is specifically designed into almost every make and model out there (I've seen alot!). The increase in emissions could also trigger the computer to alter your fuel/ignition map to a less desirable state, and you could end up losing power. Here's one thing that does seem to work: run an air vent to direct airflow directly around your throttle body. I have seen it work many times on cars and trucks with chips and detonation troubles. If you're still worried about coolant temps, try running a cooler thermostat and some Water Wetter!

I like that thread about the no air filter. I wonder if he added 26HP by doing that, woah!!!

If he thinks he's cool by removing the air filter, I've got him beat. I took out the whole engine. I instantly noticed a 160HP gain. After all, it's just dead weight right?

Yay, it's my 400th post!!! :bday: :bday:

On a more important note, I saved 15% on my car insurance today, not! That water wetter stuff looks pretty cool. You said it was reliable too, right? No ebay effects gonna happen to me car now, are there?

...er... not to burst your DENSE WARM AIR BUBBLE.... but COLD air is MORE DENSE than WARM AIR..... hence, more air/oxygen molecules per volume etc, etc....

Perhaps you MEANT to say it that way?
