Looking into LED

http://www.vleds.com

I'm looking to replace my front turn signals. I'm looking for the brightest and whitest turn signals so it'll match my 5300k mcullochs. Anyone have had any experience with vleds.com? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Well - you won't get much response from people here on that issue I'm afraid. I've brought this up before and nothing but crickets...

I've wanted to do the same thing with all my non illumination bulbs (indicators, stop, tail, etc.)

Good luck!

Um... maybe no one is answering because no one has any information? I.e., they haven't done it?

My preferred led distributor is autolumination.com... I don't see why it wouldn't work if you get the right ones...

PS I HAVE tried (recently) putting LED's in my reverse lights... wasn't nearly as bright as I had wanted (only had 7 LED's, I think)... more may have been better... but the housing definitely wasn't designed for the LED's as there were bright (and very dark) spots...

I guess you get to be the first to make the mod. Let us know what your research finds.

i have changed most of my interior lights to LEDs but the exterior ones need to be much brighter to be seen during the day..
my backup lites are LEDs and they are a bit dim during the day but who really pays attention.. ppl around here drive in parkin lots at 40 mph and dont care if someone is bakin up out of a spot..
i used VLEDs on my license plate lites, dome lite, and bakups, i hav no complains but u might want to research for turn signals since they also need resistors

i'm not sure which ones my bf has. He has the turn signals in the front and rear with the hyper white led's. It's definitely an eye catcher and he's gotten pulled over for them.He bought them at a car show out here, unfortunately i dont know which brand it is.

question - the normal bulbs in our cars for brake and turn - are they 12V?

Yah... definitely not bright enough if you have/use a backup camera...

Everything on your car should be 12v

ok, did a little research and for those of us gen2's that wanna go into led, you're gonna need electronic flashers. You CAN use load resistors but just a word of caution: long term use might lead to future electical failure and/or problems. Load resistors are meant to simulate the wattage of a regular incandescent bulb. Most leds however, use 250 times less the power of a regular incandescent bulb. Therefore, using load resistors would cause the led to become hot, thus, shortening the life of the led. Most leds should last 10,000 hours unless you get the cheapy ones. So just to be safe, get the electronic flashers. They're about a couple bucks more. For us Gen2's, we use the new type of led flashers that I've found here and only here at http://www.superbrightleds.com/tail-brake-turn.html (scroll down to bottom) part number: CF18-08. Cost: 12.95 + 5.00 s/h. The electronic flasher is located by your left foot behind the alarm reset button. Just rip the panel out. It's simple plug and play. After you install the flasher, you can convert your turn signals into led without the hyper blinking and without worrying about future electrical problems. No stupid bulb out signal either. :D Hope that helps.

ok..good that this topic is getting more interest.

now question i have is -

the LEDs brakes i ordered said that they are 12v bulbs. now i bought them thinking that since they are 12v thats the same as a normal bulb and will work fine.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... AMEWN%3AIT

i'm not smart when it comes to electrical stuff so is there more stuff like the wattage tht i need to be worried about?

i had led turns in my last car n the electrical system went all wierd after few months. this time i bought brakes thinking 12v will not cause problems..

plz comment on this

thanks.

Are you sure you want to use those leds as your brake lights? If you've seen the Gen 2.5 Solara, the led tail lights are runned by a circuit board with evenly distributed LED per square units and thus, light output is distributed evenly amongst the taillight, which accounts for the brightness. This is true with any cars with oem LED tail lights. Conventional LED bulbs however, will never have the same output as that of a incandescent bulb. Conventional LED bulbs distribute light in a concentrated area. Yes, LEDS are brighter than your regular bulbs, but the output compared to the regular incandescent bulb will be far less because LED bulbs distribute light in one single, concentrated area. Incandescent bulbs however, distribute light in all and every direction. This is why I only want to convert my turn signals into LEDS. I am looking for the clear corner look which no aftermarket bulb will ever give me because most "Super White" bulbs are tinted blue, which as we all know, kills output. As for your 12V question, I'll have to look into that. Let me know if you're still going to use those LEDS as your brake lights.
