Convertible Windscreen Prognosis

Here in November of 2005, Toyota is not offering the windscreen as an accessary. I liked the windscreen on a previous Solara convertible so I contacted the Toyota consumer line. I was told there were some issues with the past design, and a decision would be made after the first of the year whether or not to offer a windscreen - presumably without the "issues".

Does any one know what Toyota really intends to do? Improved design? No further offerings?

I liked mine well enough to start looking for a replacement in wrecking yards if Toyota does not have a plan to offer one in the future.

I haven't heard any of that. As a matter of fact, the windscreen was an option when I bought the car in July.

As part of the dealmaker when I was buying my car, I had the salesman toss in a windscreen at no charge to convince me to buy. Little did he realize the cost (heh heh).
When I do go back for service, I will have to mention that the windscreen no longer folds down, the hinge thingie is made of plastic, and the spring force overcomes the plastics' ability to resist bending, and hinge pieces then fall out.
I hope they develop a fix as I really like the results of having a windscreen while doing 80 on the highway.
