So I ordered the TRD filter and I open my trunk and have no clue where to install it. Was wondering if anyone can help a brotha out

um... I hope you meant hood...

When you are looking under your hood, the filter goes in the upper right... there should be a plastic box cover there...

here lemme help u bro. i may own a 00 solara but im pretty sure there simular when installing a filter. now i installed my K&N intake filter by unclipping this box and taking out the old filter and installing the new one. hence the name drop in filter

Thanks Brad for the helpful post.

I too got a kick out of the "trunk" as well.

You'll need to unscrew a few screw from your stock airbox, where Brad circled (Granted he has a gen 1, but it's similiar as he had mentioned). There's also a few metal clippings that needs to be unsnapped and remove and clean the inside of any debris and install the your new TRD air filter.

10mm socket for two bolt on the drivers side of the airbox. Then you can pull the thing up on that side and swap filters. The hinges on the left detach if you open it far enough but you really won't need to go that far.
Maybe you can put the old filter in the trunk. 8)
