is the 6cd changer offered in the Sport?

Postby Arthur2k4 » Thu Aug 05, 2004 5:10 pm

i asked the dealership how much would a SE Sport V6 be with the JBL 6 CD changer/Cassette player combo and he said

"Unfortunately, Toyota does not pre-build the Sport models with that option. You would have to move up to the SLE model."
but i taught some of the people here have the sport one with the 6 cd changer...so is it offered or no?

Hey Arthur,

I've got the 6 disc jbl speaker upgrades with my V6 Sport. I'm planning on selling mine once they come out with a dash replacement kit. I'll make another post later in the F/S section.

Best offer can be taken now if anyone is interested :D

the jbl system is listed as an option at the toyota site. but when i went to buy a solara i couldnt find a sport v6 with it. searched all over the tri-state area in ny and found not a one. upon investigation i found out that it is a regional thing. for some reason toyota doesnt build the sport with the jbl in the northeast. but if i wanted to buy one in ohio its a pretty common option. so i had to move up to the sle to get it. that wasnt the only reason i moved up but it was one of them.
i had a hard time deciding between the sport and the sle. it came down to the leather interior and the heated seats and the chromatic side view mirror, options i really wanted. all the sport had was the body kit and the carbon fibre dash. i figured it would be easier to add the body kit than it would be to add the leather, heated seats and sound system and mirrors.
i actually like the ride of the sle better than the sport especially since i added the trd sway bar. it was a hard decision but i think i made the right one. i always like a fully loaded vehicle. it just seems more complete. oh and the power seat was a big part of it too.

How did the ride compare by the way between the SE Sport and the SLE with and without the RSB? I never got to test drive the SE Sport to see the difference. I now have the RSB but only notice a difference in turns not in normal straight driving. The Sport I thought was supposed to be a stiffer ride all the time.

I believe the sport has different springs too. That would affect your ride. The sway bars are more about handling - turns & curves.

yes the ride is definitely more stiff in the sport. i changed the bar in my sle just to flatten the body roll in the turns. i actually like the more supple ride. you will not feel a difference in ride quality at all with the trd sway bar. i am still looking for a deal on the body kit though.

Yes they do

Postby mmcdonald » Thu Sep 09, 2004 8:44 am

Of course Toyota "pre-builds" them this way. I got the 6-cd changer in my SE Sport V6.

The real problem is that most car dealers want to sell you what's on the lot. Since there wasn't one on this dealers lot, he just fed you a line. His option would be to get one from another dealer, and that would have cut in to his margin.

I used to sell cars.
