Gas pedal not responding

Hi guys!

Hate to write only while experiencing problems, but work has been a bitch lately (not really bad, just a lot of work ). Miss you people!

I tried to grab lunch yesterday at 2pm, but when I went to rush off in my car, it died. Tried it again... FAIL. Then I noticed my car was not responding at all to the accelerator pedal input. However, the car starts and idles fine. Perhaps starts-up and settles to idle too quickly. But since my car is 5-speed, its going to be a clutch killer to attempt to move it.

All I remember was heading a low-volume thump prior to attempting to move my car.

I also got a check engine light, but can't get a scanner reading until I get off from work today or tomorrow morning (got off at 2am last night).

Any suggestions? The available browser doesn't read this website well, so I had difficulty using the search function or get any results.

Pretty vague. Does it sound any different when starting up or idling? Will wait for your check engine code.

But be happy, at least u won't have any dreaded Toyota Unintended Acceleration Issues.

Please excuse me for being vague, but its kinda hard when all I'm thinking is work, sleeping 3 hours a night, and wanting to get home.

The car doesn't sound much different when starting, just quicker to settle in idle..., either way, maybe tomorrow I'll get the code since I left the car at work again.

PS Kinda makes me happy that I don't have the acceleration issues, but not happy to be at the other end of the shaft either.

Update:

Codes are P2112 and P2111. The car started rough (rat-tat-tat) and then quiet down quickly.

There was a gas stink while it was warming up, probably because the throttle body is stuck closed mainly and the ECM trying to run the engine warm up routine.

Lastly, the engine was responding a little to the gas inputs... (lol):

Unpressed pedal = 1200 rpm idle
FULLY PRESSED pedal = 1400 rpm idle

I guess you could try reseting the ecu and see if it happens again

Will do! I plan on taking on the spray cleaner and a basic tool.

Hopefully, I wont have to replace the throttle body, or the ECM!!!

Well, I tried all that was said on the previous document. Nothing. Inspected the throttle body butterfly, and found nothing out of the ordinary.

I found this on the "manual" listed under these codes P0120
P0121, P0122, P0123, P0220, P0222, P0223, P0604, P0606, P0607, P0657, P2102, P2103, P2111, P2112, P2118, P2119, P2135:

If the Electronic Throttle Control System (ETCS) has a
malfunction, the ECM cuts off current to the throttle control
motor. The throttle control valve returns to a predetermined
opening angle (approximately 16°) by the force of the
return spring. The ECM then adjusts the engine output by
controlling the fuel injection (intermittent fuel-cut) and
ignition timing in accordance with the accelerator pedal
opening angle to enable the vehicle to continue at a
minimal speed.
If the accelerator pedal is depressed firmly and slowly, the
vehicle can be driven slowly. If the accelerator pedal is
depressed quickly, the vehicle may speed up and slow
down erratically.

Guess I'm taking it to a mechanic tomorrow, hoping for the best!

Oops! Forgot to post about repairs (work was killer!)

I left the car to a mechanic recommended by a friend at work. They replaced the throttle body actuator (with a low mileage one) and sealed the assembly to prevent any further water damage, plus "cleaned up" the MAF since it was showing out-of-place "readings". $400. Car working fine for now...

$400!! Just last week I took an accord to the shop to get the actuator replaced and including labor they charged $260. I'm guessing MAF cleaning is in high demand these days

Yep, I know I overpaid... I just wanted to get my car back ASAP, and it was already at that shop so... they took advantage and charged me since not many shops around where I work at deal with these modern electronic throttle bodies. And then again, wow did that guy talk a lot of blah blah blah!
