HID cost difference question

Postby yaddadaimsayin » Fri Jun 05, 2009 4:29 pm

I was reading through the threads on HIDs since I'm about to place an order this weekend. I planned to spend somewhere between 150-200 for a set, but then someone on SG referred me to a site called VVME.com. It's 37 bucks!! That's cheaper than even eBay HIDs. My question is, why is there such a huge gap in pricing between Notto, McCulloch, etc and then these other no-namers?

Their wattage, Kelvin, output, bulb-size is all the same... is it only a matter of reliability? And anybody here go with the cheaper route and is satisfied? this would give me a lot more room ($$$-wise) for other mods. Thanks for the help.

dont be afraid to buy the 37 dollar ones.

those are wholesale priced, some companies are able to sell that cheaply to consumers.

Yeah someone who is much more knowledgeable than me explained that they work different than normal HID's in the sence that instead of boosting the wattage, they boost the voltage to achieve the same thing which is why you don't have to splice , or put heavy duty wire in...
