2.5 bumper/taillights to a 2.0

My 04 solara got the bumper ripped off and taillight knocked out in a parking lot... So I thought if im having to replace the taillight and bumper anyway, why not go with the led lights. What Im asking is besides the fact that the 2.5 have the reverse lights in the bumper, will everything else pretty much be easy? Like the same clips for the bumper and same screws for the taillights? thanks!

the tailight will for sure be different. do a search and you'll find that there's actually quite a bit of work that needs to go into it.

Someone else will have to ring in about the bumper, though.

---CAMRAZY--- wrote:What you need-

2007 Taillights (OF COURSE)-

Electrical Tape, Wire cutters, and all your crimpers with all that good stuff-

2x Load Resistors OR 1 LED Flasher Relay
Link http://superbrightleds.com/tail-brake-turn.html
Load Resistors Kits of 6 OHMS 50 Watts (one for each light)-

1 OR 2 Light Converters (Depending on how hard you wanna work with the wires, I used 2, one for each light) which will be...
The Hopkins Towing Solutions Basic 4 Wire Harness
Part Number 48915..... These are like 15 bucks each... Walmart, Online or any Store that sells Auto Accesories.
Image-

Also there are adapters that they sell that will go into the open end, make sure you buy the one that fits in with 3 male and 1 female end on one side and it comes with 4 wires at the other....................
PART No 48205

The relay or resistors are to avoid the fast blinker effect**

The converter is what is going to make the lights be 3 functions... brake/ parking light/ signal**

Okay there are wires you are going to cut and reconnect (I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU MESS YOUR CAR UP!!)

Brake Light Wire (Cut)-
Ground which is White (Do not cut)-
Parking Light Wire (cut)-
Reverse Light (Will not be cut. Just Pull the PIN out of the Connector and switch it around with the Signal)-
Signal Light (Which is now unuseable will be cut)
**(Remember to leave enough wire to connect together)

UNfortunately I dont remember what color the wires are, so grab an electrical tester to find out, and write it down on a paper so you won't forget.

Now that the wires are cut, Grab your Converter attached to the Adapter and connect the wires together from the car to the converter...

Signal Right is Green on the Converter
Brake is RED
Left is YELLOW
Parking Light is Brown

Now from the Converter to your Light

Yellow is Left Signal
Brown is Parking Light
Green is Right Signal

***Note.. You will not use the Ground coming from the converter(s) so leave it untouched. Also if you end up using 2 converters, on the right side you will Not use the Yellow wire and on the Left you will not use the Green***

Last but not least the Resistors come with splice taps, you will connect it to the Ground wire from the lights and the other end to the Signal Wire before the Converter. (If you connect it after the converter you will get a fast blinker when you brake.) Also now is the time to doubleside sticky the Resistor on the inside of the car, make sure it doesnt touch the carpet from where you mount it.....

If you buy the Relay just Switch it out with the stock one and avoid the the resistors.

Finished Result...

everyone is saying that i will need adapters to make the turn signals blink, but what I am wanting to do is just put brake light to brake light, turn signal to turn signal, and reverse light to reverse light..(im not expecting it to be completely plug and play) .Im not looking to do the mod to have the turn signal be the new reverse light etc. Will the bolting brackets for the 05 bumper and the 07 bumper be the same?

i see what your saying
so you would HAVE to get a gen 2.5 bumper
im gonna take a guess and say yes it will fit but dunno how the wiring will work for the reverse lights

it will fit the gen2 and gen2.5 are the same just a new front and rear end, as well as a bigger engine. the only thing that will be a pain is the reverse lights because the gen2 are not prewired for the bumper reverse lights
