Other than how cool drilled + slotted rotors look, is it worth the mod?

Its time to change my brakes and im at 75k. rotors look good on all four but Ive been toying with the idea of them since I got my wheels.

So for those who have them, huge difference in stopping power
or just " looks cool " ?

I got them for the looks. Didn't really notice an increase in stopping performance, but then again, I never had to test it (I always brake gradually).

I had to change the included pads out though, as the squeak was driving me nuts.

Im not that far into it yet

but what im also considering is trying the trd pads out for the front.
they are about 90 which is much more, but with the trd suspension
components, Ive been very happy with it... and thats where
im trying to decide.

all or nothing...

cheers

If you go with the TRD pads, prepare to clean your wheels every other day.

Slotted rotors are fine and are supposed to help with brake fade by removing the gasses and dust that get caught between the rotor and brake pad under heavy braking, contributing to brake fade.

Drilled rotors will accomplish the same thing but if pushed are supposed to form cracks that form at the holes. Not good. I won't use them. The exception is the brake rotors found on Porsches. They are not drilled. They are actually formed with the holes in them and have internal supports around the holes to keep the cracks from forming. Unfortunately, I think you can buy a whole Solara for the price of those rotors.

If you go to my website www.ozone1000.com, you can see what I put on my wife's car. The combination is awesome and I plan to use the same combination on my Corolla when the current stuff wears out. On the other hand, what I have on my Corolla is terrible. The pads make the wheels completely grey in less than a week. Pads that create a lot of dust, really suck.

Good luck.

I've been using Powerstop drilled rotors and ceramic pads for several thousand miles now and love them. Could be in my head, but it does seem like they have more bite when stopping. They are also guaranteed against warping and cracking for 36k miles. Pics - http://www.solaraguy.com/viewtopic.php?t=42606

thanks for the info everyone, Ive decided not to go the slotted/drilled route, gonna stick with the oem pads and maybe some brembo blanks without all the stuff.

cheers
