Removing amber reflectors in headlights

Ok, I saw the little tutorial here, unfortunately it was pretty vague and the pictures did not work.

I'm looking to remove the amber reflectors in the headlights:


But before i even consider it, i don't suppose there are any clear replacements? (obviously not reflectors but...just some plastic to fill the gap)

And second, I've never opened up the headlights before so I'm not sure I could do this...what about a bodyshop??

Remember before you begin a mod like this that these headlights were prone to moisture leaks right from the factory (usually the passenger side).
To open the headlight asm. without breaking it and then re-seal it effectively when your done sounds like a pretty dicey situation to me. The cost of a replacement is too much for me, personally, to risk it even though I really like the look as well!

I have actually opened up headlights before. It was a fun project actually and it took me all day from morning till about 4pm when installed back on my car finished.

what you need to get is some black seal stuff. i forgot it was called but you can get it at any auto zone kragens, whatever auto store you have in your area.

you would actually need to bake the headlights in the oven. Yes i said it, you need to bake your headlights. But only at a very very low temperature. then you would need to peel them apart carefully and quickly as the epoxy will dry within minutes!

Oh and forgot to add that the headlights i opend up before were my old 2000 celica headlights. i actually did the whole baking and i painted the inside of them semi glossy black and it came out pretty nice!

The OEM sealant is butyl, same stuff used to seal windshields.

yeah what he said i think its like 4 or 6 bucks! So in this case OEM is better
