Upgraded Light bulbs - 9011?

Postby radmanGTO » Thu Jan 31, 2008 5:55 pm

All ... along these same lines, since I have been sensitized to the headlights, I have noticed, especially on the low beams, there is a "haze" on the lense in front of the 9011 bulb. [ I would use the correct name, but I'm not sure what that "lense" is called! ]

It seems like the film that is on the inside of our windshield that we routinely clean off. I would not gander as to how one would clean this off. It certainly is easy to see when the beam is on when you look down on it; especially from the side of the car.

Any idea what causes this, and, how does one go about cleaning it off??

Thanks,
Radman

I have the haze problem on my headlights too, but its on the outside from what I can perceive... I don't have the 9011s yet, so I may be misinterpreting what you are talking about. For the outside haze, I tried PlasticX, but looks like I will have to do it every month to get and keep that stuff out. I read somewhere else about using tartar control toothpaste (don't laugh)... will let you know on the details.

Just used PlasticX again this weekend while cleaning the car... it partially removes the haze but I have the feeling this will not do. Have to use toothpaste but I keep forgetting.

Also, noticed one of my headlights has a small amount of humidity inside... that bothers me even more!

Ouch! :o

I have in one of my fogs but that was from our recent storms and being lowered swamped it. :( I can't imagine having a leaky headlight though... good luck with that!

You want to know what really hurts? Warranty expired 15k miles ago :(

I guess I'll have to do a visual inspection of the headlights for any cracks, dips, or possibly problem areas. Are those headlights hard to remove? Will I need to re-adjust them if I take them out?

Hey, Radman... did you clear up the lens fog? How are the H9 (more specifically wiring) holding up?
