TRD muffler questions

TRD had a couple versions of the Gen2 tip.

Version 1 is a round tip with the logo on the sides.
Version 2 is an oval tip with the logo on the top.

There is quite a bit of inventory floating around so it's possible to still end up with the older version when you order. Personally, I think the oval looks better with the SE Sport body kit. It fills the gap just right.

The Camry TRD muffler in the beginning of the thread is also a TRD muffler. The decorative tip slipped over the exhaust pipe is intentional. Having a small air gap between the polished tip and the exhaust pipe acts as a heat insulator. (Less heat discoloration of the tip.)

Thanks for the info Brian!

Yes, that explains the oval vs rounded tip issue, but why do some of them have the smaller inner pipe and others don't? Also, mine sticks out pretty far and I see that some don't as well.

^^^

I agree the smaller inner pipe makes it look cheaper ! :-? I pay a good 400$ for it...I really hope it doesn't perform less. For the look I would prefer Brian's one ! In fact, I was buying the same muffler as him since there is just 1 part number available.

Mine is oval, but has no insert. That insert looks like crap.
