i was just worried it would drip in the engine bay or into the piping
and ill keep those instructions crisp for next time....which will hopefully not be anytime soon

So long as the oil is not DRIPPING excessive... a good few runs and the natural "sough-off" from the intake air passing through the filter will help "self-regulate" the "oiliness" of the filter. BEST part is, even if SOME oil is "atomized" into the intake... no harm done in the motor. (It would be inconsequential, at best.)
I appreciate your CONSIDERATION and CONCERN for a matter such as this wherein MOST other people would have said "f-it", and just thrown it back on WITHOUT KNOWING if they were at risk.
Oh yeah, just as a side note, since no mention has been made during the thread...
DON'T RUN A MOTOR WITHOUT ANY AIR FILTER!!!!
(This may be FINE for a RACE motor, or for SHORT RUNS down the 1/4 in a radical set-up, but NOT going to do your engine any favors... I've run OPEN AIR VELOCITY STACKS on built-up motorcycle engines before... but after sucking all God's creation into the intake, dust, dirt, BUGS, and OTHER atmosphere-intensive contaminants... the motor rebuild was only good for a couple thousand miles until issues began to surface, and I had to rebuild AGAIN! YEAH, I had it set up for an extra 10-15HP with the stacks, but streetability and DURABILITY are FAR MORE IMPORTANT, even on a radical tune like that...)
DEFINITELY, NEVER do it on a street car.
^^^ Pardon the superfluous addendum... thought it ought to be said.
