I agree; I've seen it done, but like funboy said, it takes alot of time. If you rush it, it will look BAD. Scuff the rims first, using medium grit first, then 400, then 600, and finish it with a fine scotch pad. Plan on scuffing with the fine pads before each new set of coats as well. And use good paint! When you're done, you'll never wonder why a body shop charges so much...
