I agree; I've seen it done, but like funboy said, it takes alot of time. If you rush it, it will look BAD. Scuff the rims first, using medium grit first, then 400, then 600, and finish it with a fine scotch pad. Plan on scuffing with the fine pads before each new set of coats as well. And use good paint! When you're done, you'll never wonder why a body shop charges so much...

the big difference is they dont salt and sand when it snows like they do up here

you could get away with painting the rims in SoCal, but i'd sand blast em first

also, San Diego gets prob some of the BEST weather
(thats why Brick being a retarded weatherman in Anchorman is funny)

haha, wow, I did see Anchorman, and I live in San Diego, but I didn't know why the weatherman was retarded, haha

anyways... no Jeff, it's not "caked" on. I exaggerated the numbers a little to compensate for bad weather in other areas of the US. But in reality, where I live, I did 2 light coats, and 1 med coat of color, and 2 light coat of clear coat.

IMO "carbon fiber" stickers are rice.

I was looking at that myself the other day. That whole section needs a new look and since I have the CF panels on the doors and on the dash already it might look nice to have that part completely done in CF. I dont know if a tape would be sufficent as the CF panels already in the car have a clear coat finish therefore it might have to be done at a shop where they can best match the current panels in the car, but I'd bet if that whole middle section including the shifter area were done it might enhance the look of the interior of the car.

If anybody is really good with PS, maybe a retouch of the silver interior with CF would be nice to see.
