Pre-'07 HVAC lighting and behaviour

OK...so...

...I was 50% correct :-(

Funny thing I noticed today. The previous things I mentioned are correct, but I noticed that if the HVAC is on fresh air and the fan is off, it DOES reset to recirculate when you turn the car back on. If you leave the fan on, it doesn't.

So, try to leave your fan on the first setting and see if it leaves the fresh air on.

Seems our HVAC is trying to be smart ? ? ?

Nope. The '04 tries to be even "smarter". Even with the fan still on, when it fires up, it sees that it's in MANUAL and still makes the call on the air route. recirc in the summer (no A/C) and fresh in the winter. In the summer I leave the fan on full blast - head and feet - fresh.
So we'll say the '07 has some improvement but still doesn't understand the word MANUAL.
I'll live with it. And unless I find an '07 junker, I'll just replace the LEDs inside to fix the color.

I split this out from the Tutorial. We sort of side-tracked to the HVAC.
