hey i was wondering i was searching the forums for tire monitor sensor and couldn't find any info on the sensor location. how does the sensor on the solara work? by ride height? speed? where is it located? is it on the valve stem?cause i tryed reseting it after putting on new rims but it wouldn't go away.

As I understand it:

If one tire spins faster than the other, then that means that the faster spinning tire has a smaller diameter and thus is "under inflated" when compared to the opposite tire.

This triggers the (!) light on the dash

Yes, MikeALT is right.
ABS sensnors reads the spining.

Do a Search - there's a way to reset it with a combination of turning the key on/off and other buttons - posted in a thread here somewhere. ;)

put the key in ignition turn "on" not all the way
and then press & hold the button under the steering wheel on the left and then wait for 5 seconds until it goes off.

so theres no actual unit in the valve stem or attached to the stock rims somehow?

cause i turned it to the on positiion(yes i read the owners manual) and pressed it for 5 seconds and the light didn't do anythingsince its suppost to blink after 5 second

that's weird? it works for me...... I even did it yesterday on my Mom's toyota sienna. :D

Nope. No special hardware. Just using existing sensors that are there for VSC, TRAC, and ABS.

So I'm guessing the button-presser is your problem 8)

My warning came on today. There was a low tire. Adjusted the pressure, pressed and held the button. All is well now. However, there may be a nail or something in that tire since it was 12 lbs low.
