Cloth seat covers for 2006 solara - need some input

Postby steve-o » Wed Aug 23, 2006 2:35 pm

I searched through the forumns and couldn't find any info on some nice generic cloth seat covers. I have a 2006 and would like to put covers OVER the existing ones. I read in the manual that the Airbag is a problem. Wondering if anyone has done this and could suggest a vendor. I don't want to remove the existing covers something that semi covers the seat and back of the seat is fine as well. I don't need anything for the rear.
Thanks in advance

but side air bag is really a problem, why do you not like the current cloth seat cover? they are easy to clean and water resistance

If it makes a difference my interior is grey. They pick up a *LOT* of lint, dirt, etc. I really don't like them. Some nice covers would light up the interior. Someone has to have done this...

If you were to get seat covers, you would need to cut the entire side out of them so that the side airbag could function properly in an accident- that would be the only way to do it. I'm not sure, if you cut the side out, how the cover would stay on the seat...

Well, there are OEM seat covers that have been designed especially for your side airbags.

If I can recall correctly, there were actual seat covers available from ebay for our cars. There's also a 'Hello Kitty' Gen 2 solara that's on cardomain and I believe they were cloth and had good fitment from the pictures. Just go to cardomain.com and look for it starting with 2004 and up to 2006.

GL and keep us posted on what you decide to do. I had black/grey interior w/ my SE Sport and I had aftermarket leather installed and did not lose the side airbags. They actually ask you if you have side airbags so they can order the correct ones. This is just for those that were mentioning about leather seats and side airbags.

Thanks for the input. I'm not finding much on the net in off the shelf covers. they have to be made to order... the airbag.. I'm finding around 200.00 or so for some O.k nothing great. Here's an example.

I haven's seen any on ebay other than generics with no cut out for the airbag, I did find a leather replacement for 299.00 which isn't bad, and it's the right color. I'm thinking about it..
