Its possible to fit any engine into anything as long as you have the cash, and I mean $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I've seen a Geo Metro with a Series III 3800 supercharged engine replacing the back seat. That car ran a 9.5 second quarter mile.

You have the only yellow Gen2 Solara known to exist. It's a beautiful ride. But it's not a car about speed. If this is what you are after, I recommend you look into a second project car that you can build up from the ground.

Please don't take this comment the wrong way. I don't mean it to be offensive. I think you are not ready to perform such a modifiction. You asked if there is any way to take an AWD / RWD platform engine such as the Nissan RB26DETT and place it into a FWD Toyota. This would be a nightmare swap for the most experienced of tuner shops. Essentially scrapping most of the vehicle and rebuilding it into something completely different. Yikes. :o

Had you asked about shoehorning the 3.5L Camry / Avalon engine into the Solara, then I'd take it seriously. Even that swap is not easy or cheap.

My recommendation is to learn to be happy with what you've got. Feel free to work on the list of mods you can't seem to get. Someone has to be the first to work with a parts manufacturer or fabricate parts on their own.

As painful as this all sounds - I too, have had to come to the realization that I have what I have and just have to learn to be content with it. I have many things to do to my ride yet, so I'll just concentrate on those and not worry about trying to smoke someone or get more freakin' tickets! :o

I think a nice suspension and some wheels will help me a lot and work on cosmetics along the way and give up trying to get more performance out of this sled. It's just the wrong boat to try to do that with unfortunately. If I win the lotto or something and have more $$ than brains, then I might attempt a custom FAI setup - but not going to beat myself up in the mean time. ;)

Good luck!

Sometimes I wonder why even buy the car in the first place with so much work to do..Probably cheaper to buy wreck and rebuild it to your liking. Sounds like you'd never be satisfied though...Good luck with it.

If you get adventurous, spend the money to convert the car to RWD and put in a 2JZ-GTE, near limitless power, and you'll be my god.

And the best thing is, it'll still be a toyota.

Brought this back up, just to ask if you are considering a swap, have you thought of a 1GR which is a 4.0 V6 out of a 2005 Tacoma??

That is the swap I would do on a gen2 if I had the cash for it..
