Check out this dudes ride... he has a CAI and look where it goes down to the well.

It doesn't look like it goes down all the way and it's a 4 banger :(

Is the MAF in the correct position? Looks like it might throw a CEL

It looks like not going to the wheel well.
it is still behind the radiator.
I'm researching CAI for my I4, and hopefully i can install it tomorrow.
(I will stop by the pipe shop i'm working with)

Here is what i found so far.
1. there is a big enough opening behind the driver-side headlight to run a pipe to back of the foglight.

2. You need to move the battery somewhere to get the pipe into the opening.

3. On I4 with injen application, you just need a straight pipe with one bend.

4. On V6 with injen, probably need couple bend, before get to the opening.

I will let you know once i get the result.
also i can order extra pipes once i finish the fitting test on my solara.
