I originally thought about 18's with 235/45's on 'em so I didn't lose too much in comfort, but then thought what the hell? I'd really like to fill up the wheel well and balance the car out a bit and go with 20's and 235/35's. This big a$$ car really needs some bigger wheels to not make it look so top-heavy! ;)

I've got my rims decided on now - just need to shop around for tires as well.

in my opinion the gen2 should have atleast 19's on it to look good. unless youre going for performance. you can get away with 18's on a gen1 because its a smaller car.....

At least 19"s. Anything less looks a bit "iffy" with the Solara body.

I have 18"s and I'm perfectly contented... 19"s/20"s are generally heavier, and I'm not willing to sacrifice any more comfort (this is my daily driver / cruising car, I take it on numerous long road trips). You decide for your self if the 18"s look "iffy" or insufficient, I've never been told that in person.

like prodigy79 said 18"s is the best way for long trips/daily driver and more comfort, I got my 19"s just for the looks.....and I don't drive my car much.....so, you should be fine on 18"s

Suggestion

Postby JMSinMaryland » Thu Jun 15, 2006 2:04 pm

Go 18s WITHOUT a lip, they'll look bigger. My current and favorite all season high performance tires are the Yokohama Avid H4's. My 18" Avid's even came with a treadwear warranty of 60,000 miles even though Tirerack's website said a 225/40 18 wouldn't. Jon.

Sorry, what I posted sorta came out the wrong way. I think your rims look fantastic actually. What I should've posted is that I prefer the look of the 19's and think it looks ideal, but 18"s still look very, very nice. By "iffy" I didn't mean it looks bad, I just think that the little step up in size with the 19 compliments the body more... but it's all just opinion and of minor significance at that.

I just wish I could afford the ones I want. Definately not a cheap investment at around $1500 w/ tires etc.
