I'm doing this from memory, but here it goes. First, hold both of the outer buttons at the same time and continue to do so till the little red light on the HomeLink control starts to blink. The light does not start to blink right away, maybe 30 seconds, so be patient. This action erases all the codes that might be stored in the system. Once the light starts to blink, release the buttons. Next, decide which of the three HomeLink buttons you want to use for your remote. Take your remote, make sure it has good batteries, hold the remote right next to the HomeLink control. At the same time press and hold your remote button and the HomeLink button you want to use. Hold both at the same time and don't release till the little red light on the HomeLink control starts to blink. Once it does, then release and you are all set. The problem is that some door openers now have what is called rolling code encription. If that's the case there is more you have to do to make the HomeLink work properly. If I remember correctly, once you have done the programing as decribed, if the light on the HomeLink control blinks when you press the button, then you have a rolling code device. If you have rolling code, there is more programing you have to do. On your door motor mounted in the garage, there is a button somewhere that says something like "training" or "learning". As to the exact position of this button, I really can't tell you. Every door opener is different, but it should be somewhere on the back. Anyway, if you find the button press it. You have only 30 seconds to do the following. Press and release the HomeLink button twice. If the door opens, you've got it. If not, repeat the pressing of the "training" button, then press and release the HomeLink button three times within 30 seconds. Then that should have you all set. My door opener is old, so I did not have to do the "rolling code" deal, but I have done it for a friend, she has an Acura, and it worked fine. I hope this helps you out.
