Whats up everyone!

I recently decided to take apart the middle part of the dash to find out how to change the green lights. I found out some interesting info. I ran into some problems with the AC controls and would like some help/info from you guys who know anything about this.

I have more info and pics on the second page of my Solara car doamain page (first link on my sig).

Please check it out.

The knobs are pots i bet. Could you get a pic of them to me? I could prolly walk you thru it. Some of toyota's/lexus cars use leds inside the knob so ripping it up will also cause issues. SC300's cluster has this issue and they tend to loose part of the needle lights. Common thing.

kgzero1 - gen 2 quest to change interior green led lighting

Postby michaels artic frost » Sun Sep 18, 2005 7:09 am

Kenny,

It's going to be very tough to change the small backlit leds. However, best of luck in getting it done. Definitely keep us posted. There's a few gen 2 members that have attempted this quest. Hope you have better luck then they did.

I am hoping to get some pics next weekend. I think the small ones, I can do since I have worked with circuit boards before, and have experience messing with that stuff. I think it will be harder finding the right LEDs and color that I want.

The AC knobs are another thing entirely. I will definetly need help there. I will you guys posted.

The ones for the multi display are small circuit board LEDs; surface mount LEDs, I think they are called. You can probably find some at Fry's or some other electronics store.

For the lighting around the AC knobs, you wouln't replace the bulbs, just the film glued to the backing.

I can't help you for the LEDs insinde the AC knobs. I can't get to those, so I don't know.
