price for installing trd muffler by dealer

Why go to a dealer? Just go to any muffler shop and pay a lot less. If you have the tools, you can do it yourself. It's completely bolt-on. 8)

Is it possible to get a DIY breakdown of it for those interested in self-installation?

um, nah.. it doens't provide the bolts, since you can use the one from original muffler.
but the original bolts is kinda impossible to take off...
so, i bought new one... i used Fine Grade 5 3/8-24 X 1-1/2" .

step is easy.. .just locate the screws at muffler head, 2 screws..
unscrew it... remove the whole muffer from rubber locates at front and rear of muffler.
put the TRD muffler on it, and screw it...
tha'ts it... easy steps but hard to do...
need LOTS energy to do it...

I don't know if midas wanted to rip me off or make a buck, they said (this is again gen 1 thigie), the stock bolts were not long enough and they wanted to sell me longer bolts, the cost was like a 2 something, i was like go for it! (well here' is my breakdown, 20 for installation, 2-3 for bolts..and no taxes - i paid cash, hence i really don't recall details, but i'd def say it was lower than 25). Why go to a dealership when 20-25 ensures the people who install mufflers all day install it, no messing under your car and no messy hands. kudos to DIY dudes...for 20 bucks, you won't see me under my car..(may be rsb installation, since that is procey...ok).

why do I need new bolts if I already have the original ones? what tools did you use? do I need to unscrew the rubber locates?

the trouble with the bolts on origial muffler is it has been glued on it already.
it's kinda impossible to take if off. just buy new set of bolts, it's like 75cent a pair.
u just need ranch to unscrew the bolts...
flat screw driver could help u remove rubber on muffler.
