Down Firing Door Lights

Postby cklinh » Thu Dec 09, 2004 6:10 pm

I ran into something like this a while ago, but I didn't bookmark it... I was wondering if any of you have come across this...

Basically, it's a kit that you can install on the bottom of your doors (I'm assuming you'd have to drill holes) so that the light fires downward towards the ground. I guess they'd be hooked up to your dome light so that they only come on when the door is open. These weren't spread out (like underbody neons, or whatever they're called). Instead, there were four or five concentrated spots of circular light that hit the ground. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I remembered them being somewhere in the range of $200... I don't think it was shown on a Solara... it also might have been a japanese site... anyone got a clue?

Actually, very similar!

But the thing I saw was an actual kit (commercial website) that was being sold... the light was also a lot more focused, if that makes any sense...

Thats a lotta money for something you can easily make yourself. Those kits originally came Brabus on the Benz S-Class, but also came out a while ago in japan, made for all Lexus'. My friend with a GS400 showed me about a year ago, but the Lexus ones from japan ran like $300. All the kits are, are individual led lights on a track-system that you wire into your door light. He made a kit for $50 instead of spending that ridiculous amount of money. Just bought 10 leds (5 per side) and made a mounting sill under the actual door sill on the car, not the door. It looks classy on the right car and didnt cost much. Ill try to find that website.
