Below is the response from Veilside regarding the GB:

20 people, $400 per hood plus s/h if needed. Usually about $125 - $150.

I am trying to get a group of interested people. So is 25 the absolute minimum?

How much will the hood cost?

#1 you can not use the hydro's on the hood so you need a stick to hold it up
#2 VIS sucks do not get stuff from them
#3 thats too expensive for a group buy there regular selling price on CF hoods are $399
#4 just get the ebay one your not gonna find one cheaper unless you get that b grade CF hood that was $99 last time and paint it

I've come to the decision that I'll just get the CF Hood from customcarbons. I can't wait any longer for a GB to come about.

Back to PhysicsGuy.Com...

Any material that is not good at conducting/retaining heat is an insulator, which gets back to my main point... carbon fiber, not conducting or retaining heat, is an insulator, not a re-radiator.

So it is a weight saver, and a heat killer. You assess the balance.

Down south, it is definitely not a good idea. Aluminum would be a better choice. Up north, CF is fine.
