Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3?

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3?

Postby TW85 » Thu Oct 28, 2004 12:04 pm

Anyone familiar with the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tire? Has very good ratings, though it costs slightly more than I wanted to spend.

I know this tire is probably overkill for a stock Solara but I am tired of not having traction. As a result, traction control kicks in, cuts power, and makes me a sitting duck.

That thing holds a 400Hp Camaro in place. I think you'll spend too much on that for a stock Solara.
I currentlyhave Kumho Supra 712's and they are 3 times better than the stock Michelins.
5-speed V6.
TRD Supercharger.
TRD Short Throw Shifter.
Tokico/Eibach combo.

Spend too much? They're cheaper than the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S and about $20 more than the Pirelli PZero Nero, LOL.

Maybe I'll look for a less aggressive tire, but I really am tired of the lack of traction the Bridgestones have.

Any other thoughts?

The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S is an awesome tire but very expensive. If the Goodyears have good ratings on tirerack.com and are cheaper, get them. How do the ratings compare between the two?

Bridgestone Turanza EL42 is the stock tire for the '04 Solara SLE V6:

Really crappy tires.

Mole,

The Pole Positions cost more than the Goodyears. They approach Pilot Sport A/S territory...

I may still hold out for the Pirelli PZero Neros (or PZero Nero M+S). Need to find another dealer...

Do the PZero Neros come in stock OEM sizes or real close? What about the Pole Positions? I know the Pilot SPort A/S in 225-50-ZR17's fit our car fine as replacements with very minimal odometer change.

The Goodyear comes in 215/45R17. 225/45R17, 225/50R17, and 225/55R17.

The Pirelli PZero Nero M+S comes in 215/45R17 and 225/45R17.
The Pirelli PZero Nero comes in the same sizes as the M+S.

The Pole Position comes in 215/45R17, 225/45R17, and 225/55R17.

The Pirelli is the least expensive and has excellent ratings as well. The Goodyears and Pirellis seem to have a far better tread life than the stock Turanzas.

I found the cheapest prices on tirerack.com. Even when I was looking at the GS-D3's, tirerack was cheaper than Goodyear themself.

Toyo T1-S are some of the best tires you can buy. Up there with the pilot sports and the SO-3's. If you can wait a few months the toyo T1-R's are coming out.

These are my next new set of tires for the X-Runner. AA traction and I believe a 300utog treadlife rating.
