2004 Solara Navigation Installed and Mods

Postby seany » Fri Oct 01, 2004 10:11 am

I have a brand new OEM 2004 Solara Navigation unit ($1565) installed in my 2004 Sienna with 10 speaker JBL surround AMP.
I was just wondering if anyone who has 2004 Solara with NAV can verify the following for me since there are quite a few of us Sienna owners looking for a better solution & mods besides mod/add-ons we already did like the voice command/recognition mic & plug&play back-up camera & playing DVD on NAV & XM radio, etc.
We currently looking into the BlueTooth integration.

1. which version does 2004 & 2005 solara MAP dvd?
you can get this info in Diag Mode. should say something like Denso 5640 and Map disc v 4.1.14
2. when it gives voice guidance to tell you to make a turn, does it MUTE the whole system or just the left front speaker?
3. In diag. mode, there are 2 options greyed out on mine.
BT voice & Back guide monitor- can someone verify what back guide montior is and if it's enabled if so, what it does?

Thanx much,
2004 Sienna XLE AWD
Add-Ons : '07 Solara Navigation with Voice Command/Bluetooth & Eclipse Reverse Camera

I have the OEM Nav unit... I'll get back to you on question #1, but on #2, the guidance only comes out from the left front speaker. If I have the music on, guidance will continue to speak and it doesn't mute the music. so if i have the music turned on really loud and the guidance volume set lower, then I can't even here the guidance. I thought that the music is supposed to be muted when the guidance is giving directions. For #3, I don't have any idea what Diag. mode is. I'll have to check mine out and get back to you on this.

I'd rather have it not mute the music the way it does. The voice prompts get repetitive on long highway stretches constantly saying "stay on Rt whatever" and I wouldn't want my music muted every single announcement. You can make the voice on the left front speaker loud enough to hear even if the music on the other speakers are very loud. An excellent design overall since I can have my cake and eat it too.
