NAV and Subwoofer

Hello all,

Figured this is something entirely new, did a quick search, and not much came up.

I'm looking to put a sub or two in my trunk. For obvious reasons, I will not be changing the head unit. I would also prefer not to have an amp/sub/box combination in the trunk, for space reasons. Therefore, an enclosed/powered sub is looking great... and I'm leaning towards the Infinity Basslink series (either the T or the X).

My question is, how the heck do I install this thing? I figure I'd need an amp installation kit to run power, but what about the audio signal? The sub takes both line-level and speaker-level, where do I get these from?

Also, will the JBL amp (I'm assuming I have this) play any role in this?

Someone said to get a preamp-out converter for my headunit? Is that the route to go?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I had my '99 Altima, all I needed was the converter to go out to my amp. Wired everything through and it sounded great.

I would tap the speaker wires from the the rear deck, then connect to line-level input of the subwofer system.

is tapping different from splicing? I've been told that splicing is a really BAD idea...

splicing the wire is cut the wire, and connect with 2 or more wires. after a long term using, the connecting place is easy to get lose. (it doesn't have very often, but it does happen!)

tapping wire is connting two wires with out cutting original wires. i like this way better too. cause it won't hurt the source wire~ it won't be lose since it have never been cut~
