FSB RSB Question

Postby Willy7o2 » Thu Sep 30, 2004 9:39 pm

Has anyone ever tried driving their car after taking out the Stock FSB and RSB. Does the stock FSB, RSB make any difference? May be a dumb question, but just curious.

i know of a friend that plans to do that real soon, but he drives an IS300.

by taking out the sway bars, it gives the car a true independant suspension setup.

his theory is correct in a way.

Really? Removing both and driving without a front and rear sway bar?

Certainly the suspension would be totally independent, but then you have the drawback of it being totally independent. When you go around a turn you get full roll out of the suspension. I wouldn't want to be in that ride.

The sway bar keeps the car flat on the turns. It may transmit some chatter (very very little) but not anything near a live rear axle, for example. You still get the benefits of independent suspension with sway bars, but none of the detriments of fully independent suspension.

These cars just don't have the full race set up to allow you to remove these bars and stay safe.

Is this reeeeeally what you want to do? Maybe I am not reading this right. :-?
