question about cost of tinting

Postby twincepts » Tue Sep 28, 2004 10:13 pm

yeah, most tint shops charge extra for removing old film, and i think it ranges somewhere between $20-$40. I paid $150 for my tint job, which was an upgrade from the basic tint. I chose a metallic based tint. Entry level tint should be around $100-$120.

driver and passenger side windows are easy to remove. however, i think it's still reasonable to pay for ppl to remove the tint.
because the glue on the windows is HARD to remove, and the rear windows is DANGER to remove urself. it takes skill to do it, or u might rip the strips off which can damage ur rear defroster!!

Tinting - SolTech

Postby michaels artic frost » Wed Sep 29, 2004 4:50 am

I originally had 35% in the front and 20% in the rear with platinum (mirror) tint. I saw the difference in the front windows and the small side windows and decided to go with 20% all around.

I had it redone at another shop with 20% and they only charged me $40 for removing and applying the new tint to the front windows. However, I did purchase 20% tint from the same shop that tinted my car originally because I didn't want to have two different tint color.

IMO, I like the darker tint and reflects more of the sun out, which in turns keeps the car cooler and it looks all around better. I've got 35% all around on my 03 Altima and it's a bit light for me, but still looks good though.

Tint job cost me $165 per car.

Good luck and keep us posted with pics.

Below are a few pics with 35% front and 20% small window. You can see the difference in the tint percentage. Noticed the first pic was back in March with stock wheels...The Artic Frost Project has come a long way...lol
