Isn't the auto-dimming for the rearview mirror only, not side mirrors. If anything, i'm assuming the 'heated mirrors' may not an option with the turn signal mirrors.

I'd have to check again, but I'm pretty sure the side views dim with the rear views... but... heated mirrors?

How can you possibly take out a side mirror making a turn at an intersection? You get so close to something?

And yes, the SLE side mirrors not only autodim but defrost too.

Chris,

I have never been that close to where I needed a folding side mirror while making a turn. You are taking those turns way too sharply. When turning, allow some space on your left side so you're not so close. I can't imagine being that close though! Anyway, folding or break-away mirrors would come in handy when you are parked on side streets where DVD Chris is coming down hugging the left and his left side mirror meets your right side mirror and kerplunk. 8) It would also come in handy when a kid playing street football knocks into your foldawy mirror and doesn't bust it clean off since it just bends and springs right back. It is a nice feature.
