who has the trd sway bar?

BTW, I just noticed you live in Long Island, I used to live in Bayside Queens. Spent many nights on Deer Park Ave. spinning tires and causing trouble as a teen. I know how crappy the roads are in LI so maybe the competition setting would not be the best option for where you live!

The bar itself is $179.53 plus shipping at one site and I don't understand why everyone isn't just installing these themselves. It's not difficult.

I got mine for $158 at toyotaparts4u and Toyota dealer is installing it for $89. I have the instructions and it isn't super simple. Gotta get it on a lift, etc. Rather have the dealer do it without worries.

Get the springs and RSB. It's worth it. And forget getting them installed by the dealer, it's not worth it. Remember, you're driving a Toyota.

Got the RSB installed by the dealer on middle hole setting. Notice less body lean on hard turns at high speed now and no change in normal driving feel.

I've also set it on the middle hole and have experienced very little roll in turns with absolutely no change in suspension harshness. It's very simple to change the setting and i might just do it out of curiosity. If anyone can't perform this upgrade themselves in 20 minutes or less you shouldn't even think about getting this mod, it's that easy. No lift neccessary! slide the old one out and the new one in. six bolts and you're done.

I just wanted to confirm what has been said here about the TRD rear sway bar. Its fairly easy to install yourself (I did mine this morning), remove 8 bolts, slide the old bar out, slide the new one in, 8 bolts back in, torque 'em to specs and you're done.
I did jack the car and block up the rear wheels about 5 inches to make the job easier, but if you've got a "slim build" you can probably slide under there and get the job done without raising the car.

I've been testing my new rear sway bar all day (lots of fun and scared the hell out of my wife on a 270 degree turn highway exit ramp). The TRD bar really reduces body roll on hard turns and in my opinion, its really worth the money. The only problem is now I definitely want new wheels and better tires as the crappy OE Bridgestone EL42's howl and brake loose way too easily.

That's really good to know...i'm definately getting a RSB too! btw, if I don't change my springs, will it matter how effective the RSB will be? thanks

That's a good question. The best I can tell you is that installing the RSB alone will definitely improve handling as I’ve described. Additional suspension improvements will only make things better (at least that's what you would hope for).
Here’s the specs on the RSB from TRD along with data on tire and spring changes:
http://www.toyotaterritory.com/04_rear_sway_bar.htm

I’m not really interested in installing the TRD lowering springs, but eventually once someone makes a high quality AM coil-over shock set, I would seriously consider buying them. My next purchase will be a set of 18" wheels and better tires.
