Belt rubbing - rubber shavings all over alternator...

Hi,

I just installed a new tensioner along with the Dayco Polycog belt and I can see rubber shavings on the alternator. I believe (not sure 100%) that the belt is rubbing on the tensioner itself. Do you think if the belt was just a little longer than original that it would actually rub there. I need to investigate it more as well. Thanks for any info.

i think it says on the manual that a little bit of shavings here and there are okay, is it extensive?

I've never seen any before with the old setup - this is all new and it seems very extensive.

keep an eye on it, but I wouldn't worry too much about it either- that belt can take quite a beating

my setup leaves a lot of rubber everywhere as well, but I know that it's partially due to the fact that my setup doesn't perfectly align in my gen3

the only thing that's really happened is that I've had to replace my belt and both my grooved idler pulleys after having the blower on my car (with new belt and pullies) after less than 2 years.
