ChargedSolara wrote:Hey guys: been a long time since i posted, i dynoed my car at ATP in fremont, CA and i produced 224.9 fwhp, and 215. something torque. looking at the other numbers this is typical, some of the mods that i have on my 99 solara, (AT) are:

TRD s/c 4psi
injen short ram
apexi safc II - (the guy said no tuning was necessary until further mods were installed...)
magnacor wires
denso iridium

any suggestions on where to go now? i believe some exhaust/headers/y pipe would free me up a bit, right?

and is it just me, but over here in Norcal its so cold...and my car is having problems lately, cranking in the morning. any ideas? thanks

Derek

bull crap, 224 whp out of an auto, with 4psi that had no tune / exhaust mods.

why even waste your time making this? all dynos read differently, your dyno was on a roller dyno- dynapack dynos read higher. Those numbers arent that out of reach...

i would think the same.. it would have to be the dyno.
Those are some pretty hard numbers to put up. Let alone with 4psi and no tune!?!

i would still think that the differences would be pretty minimal. Unless the cars we have now were beat to hell..
If you read car and driver or magazines like that, they have long term tests from a brand new car to 30k to 60k.. etc i cant remember exactly off the top of my head. But the performance differences were very minimal, like tenths of a second.

^ thats very true, I guess it wouldnt make much difference... different kinds of dynos would make a huge difference though.

yeah...those numbers are whack...

though by the same token. different cars are a bit anomalous- some make less for some reason, and some make more...

but somebody getting more than 20whp OVER what most ppl make with MORE mods (fairly important ones too, such as a full exhaust), makes one wonder

I know for a fact that my car dynoed 217 whp on a dynapack dyno, but if I put it on the local mustang dyno it would make about 190 whp. Granted I do agree that those numbers do seem a little high I guess, but why would he lie?

^ well, that makes sense as it's a well known fact that mustang dynos give lower numbers than dynapack or dynojet

though if we come to think about the fact that it's not under the new SAE standards - which usually takes about 5% or so away, plus let's say 5% more power since the car was newer, then it's not too far off presuming that it's also one of the lucky cars that put out more power than the average

you failed at reading.

he mention fwhp, please allow me to explain to you. FLYWHEEL HORSEPOWER

he never said it is WHP. taken 15% power transfer lost he should have about 192 WHP.

fwhp usually represents front wheel horse power.

and, 15% loss on the auto tranny? are u on crack? the figures are more like around 25% loss a.k.a 200 @ the crank with 150whp optimal for the auto tranny, even tho some dyno at 135-145whp.

So actually, U fail.
