Modifying stock EGR tube

Modifying stock EGR tube

Postby 99V6solaraSE » Sat Jan 19, 2008 12:12 pm

So as im sure some of you know.. i didnt end up getting the EGR tube from wang2k...

anyway im left with just trying to modify my stock egr tube.
I have no idea how im gonna go about doing this or what i say to the guys.

It was suggeested that I install the supercharger and put everything in, leave the ebc kinda hangin there and drive somewhere and tell them to get the pipe fitted.
Dunno how safe that is driving without the egr.. worth a shot i suppose.

Another idea, is I have a guy who as an automatic egr tube who wanted to trade with me with wang2k's manual egr tube. But since i dont have it, i probably wont be able to get it from him. I already offered to buy it from him but im still waiting to see where it goes from there. I was thinking maybe if hed lemme borrow it for a while and can show them what it looks like to give them a better idea. and I suppose and they can modify the stock egr from there. But then id have an egr tube that wouldnt fit my stock manifold anymore and would still need to get home to install my supercharger.

any ideas??

^ you can have a plate cut out of metal like the one I dols milt... anything metal you can bolt up that would block the opening should work. As for the tricking part, that I am not sure of... King will know though, he is running a blockoff on his supercharged camry i believe.

I installed an automatic s/c kit on my '99 5 spd last year. I used the auto egr tube from the kit, cut it into 2 pieces, bolted each piece onto the engine and cut them to fit together, indexed them with a mark and had them tig-welded together. When I got it back it fit perfect. It only took about an hour of cutting a bit off at a time until it fit properly. I think the only difference is the twist is a bit different between the manual and auto tubes. Hope this helps.

^ i told him that....but the situation now is that he doesnt have a tube to work with at all, so he'd have to start from scratch.
