ok so ive done a little search and found little to help with my particular question, so here goes.

after gettin the O2 sensors working right and a new fuel filter the car is runnin perfect *knock on wood*. so i was considering going to 5.5psi. now im pretty sure i know what all i need to run it (injectors, walbro 190 fuel pump, pullie, jims fuel mod, better spark plugs and of course pulley) but fill me in if ive forgoten somthing. my big worry is putting that on an engine with 173 K miles and auto tranny.

i know the engine is in good condition and the tranny runs just fine(installing my tranny cooler when it warms up). i know these engines well and that 170K isnt much for the 1mz but im not so sure when it comes to boost. what do yall think? what all should i look for before diving into this?

thanks for any help.

im @ 200k+ here. boosted@5psi and track it often. Just have a very steady amount of fuel and a very good tune (I tuned mine to run rich just in case)

For me, tuning it rich will give me less power, but more insurance since I do track days. Trust me, m motor still pulls strong. At the last trackday what gave up on me was the wheel spindle and axel snapping and ripping my rim off the car. It happened WOT on a 90mph banked sweeper. At first I thought it was the tranny, but after the repair, engine and tranny were perfectly fine.

btw, i have a 97 camry so yeah, its old. lol

Even upgrading the fuel system, folks have had issues with knock sensors. Search knock sensor rewire, that's easier and lots cheaper than changing them if they blow, which seemed to happen to almost everybody...

it sounds like youve got everything set... I would go with those things and tune, then see if the knock sensors go... when or if they do you can worry about it then...

and dawgz- he already has an SAFC Neo ;)

the knock sensor re-wire is real simple.

my bank 1 (front) knock sensor went on the recent dyno run, i re-wired it while the car was still on the dyno (not on a run), the next run made me smile.
