I have a Spec flywheel, which is apparently identical to the fidanza one....

and mine "fit" fine during installation, but the teeth catches and grinds on the starter during starts. It makes a loud metal grinding noise (the sounds hurts) only on start up and then goes immediately away.

I thought it was my gen3 starter, but even replaced with a gen4 starter (which is basically identical- just different wiring spots) it still did it.

Not sure why it does it. But I've learned to live with it until it causes a real problem.

^ I'm thinking that it may be specific to the gen3....but I have no idea...I torqued everything to absolute spec when I installed everything as well as used the locktite as needed....

I've learned to live with it....

and one possible thing as well is that my flywheel is 9lbs (it was shipped and with the bearing, packaging, etc it was a shipped 10lbs weight) so it seems to be the mr2 flywheel

even though the 11lbs camry/solara flywheel is supposed to be interchangeable, it may be the cause...I have no idea....

no idea....but if you're doing it at a shop, they should know...otherwise, what are you paying them for??

and I'm not sure why a 4banger flywheel would be thicker than a v6 one anyway....

if you really want to find out, get the part number and call the company. or go to a junkyard, grab a stock 4banger one and then compare
