Dyno pull...

Hi,

I took my car to the dyno for the 2nd time (same mods as the first time but a different dyno) Pulled 196.1 HP & 200 TQ (2nd gear on auto trans) - but 2 years ago it made 192 HP & 184 TQ (not sure which gear). Now my mods are: S/C, JIC cat-back, magnecor wires, IK22 spark plugs, SAFC (not tuned). I also just purchased Jim's fuel kit but haven't had any time to install it. I'll take it back after fuel kit install & tuning.

From what I know, dyno pull has to be done in 3rd gear because it's the gear with the closed ratio to 1.

It's a interesting experience you know what your car can gives you (not based on "web or whatever" numbers. Again dyno will not give you same numbers for same setup...depending of the weather (at the same dyno bench) and sea level (air pressure...) but with that said...it is the only measuring info that we can trust so. Good improvement with the added mods !

That's what I told the guy, because I read here somewhere that if you do the pulls in 2nd gear the results are approx 8% less than if you did it in 3rd gear. And the A541E transaxle has exactly a 1/1 ratio in 3rd gear. So with that said, after I finish Jim's fuel upgrade and get engine tuned, I'll go back and demand a 3rd gear pull.

Dyno's with an auto tranny are difficult at best and many dyno guys don't know how to do one or won't do one.

I've had my car done on several different dynos and the numbers are all over the map. That's why I no longer dyno my car. I street tune it for the best safety and performance possible.
