Boosting 5.5psi - Some Questions

Postby Eye8Pussies » Sun Nov 12, 2006 4:55 pm

This is to the people out there who are boosting 5.5psi right now...

Beyond the usual fuel upgrades, knock sensore upgrades/relocation, maybe ignition, maf, tranny cooler, etc.

What other upgrades have you done to hold the extra power?

As well, any other problems come up yet?

And does anybody have any dyno charts?

Thanks!

Just messing around.

Might want to make sure your tranny can handle it. It can but you know... 5.5 psi and racing other cars.. Over time it WILL hurt your tranny somewhere. LSD would be nice too because you .. Well. Yeah control isnt fun. And good brakes.

MT shouldn't have any problem handling the extra power. However, LSD is a nice thing to have if you are not into 1 wheel peels. I would say get a clutch, flywheel and LSD at the same time to save in labor.

Besides all the necessary upgrades and a dyno tune, i haven't done much else. Waiting for my clutch to slip before I replace that, but no major issues have come up (knock on wood). Check out my cardomain for dyno sheets (at 6lbs.)

thanks guys

and I'm an automatic since the 94 camry never came with a 5-spd...

but since getting blown, a 5-spd swap is a very forseeable thing as well as an engine swap...chances are I'd pick up both an engine and a tranny at the same time, do everything off the car, install the s/c on to it and then drop it back into the car

performance clutch, lightened flywheel, etc is a definate at that point....will see about the lsd tho since it's rather expensive....

and thanks for the info...now I have more confidence about goingup to 5.5psi....the 4 just isn't doing it for me in the auto...haha...

hey dat. are you making 300whp? or is that to the fly? cuz i saw that Akfahad is making like 280 whp and was wondering what the diff. in both your setup is? i saw that Akfahad is running 6lbs and youre running 5.5. how would you be running lower boost and yet have more whp than someone that is running 6lbs? would you guys mind shedding some light on this? i would love to have 300 whp on my s15lara but i first need to do alot of research and actually buy a supercharger. thanx Eye8Pussies, you asked the same question that i wanted to ask just didnt have the time yet. if you have a manual tranny, would you need a tranny cooler? would it benefit a MT or could we do w/o it? sorry if i jacked your thread Eye8Pussies, just didnt see much sense in starting a whole new thread. hopefully you guys can help. ty

mt thoughts are that tuning makes a difference as well as no cat+ custom y-pipe on dats setup.

Im only putting 260whp..

Dealio is yes Im running 5.5 psi. BUt I also Dynoed the car without no ECU reset, Running rich, And 260whp was on my 16th run no break.

Worst of all I dynoed my car in 105.65 F* degree, 29.31 in-Hg, STD: 1.05

Thats like pure abuse dyno run.

^ thanks for the info...

and yeah...but it's a gradual build-up I guess....at the moment I'm happy with just boost...

when I get some money and find a good deal on an engine and tranny I'll probably pick it up and start building them up to drop in at a later point....

I'd keep my motor, but I installed the blower at 263K km, so my car's no youngster by any means....

and s15lara -> no prob.... any and all info is good...

and does anyone know where I can find a trd thermostat for a decent price? then I have to see if it'll fit my car even....lol

thanks guys
