Recomendation to all SC boosted

I spented the last hour taking my SC assembly apart because I felt that it was getting really dirty so why not clean it on this beautiful day.

Well I started playing with the pulley and I notice it was VERY rough. Reason I said that because I use to skate board and do RC cars and the bearings were ALWAYS smooth. I popped the bearing seals and OMG it was like someone took a crap in it. I ran a full can of WD40 to everyone of the bearings on the supercharger pulley assembly total and ran new grease into it.

I Reinstalled everything and started the car. THE CAR WEEE runs very smoothly and you CANNOT hear any of the pulley noise anymore.

I guess this is for anyone who notice their pulleys area sounds louder then normal or pass 50K miles. I did a quick clean and everything is QUIET like it was meant to be until you WOT the car

Stuff I use was regular tools, one can of WD40, and one can of Grease. The grease I used was a spray can type since the other type gets very expensive. I spented about 6 bucks and 4 hours because I was exhausted from the night before but MANN the car feels good

I just thought I share how to keep your car mantainned and bearings refreshed after 50K miles.

Warning-- I used a small flat head screw driver to pop both side of the bearing seals off. Dont force it and spray allot of WD40 to get all the dirt and old sludge inside out. It gets VERY messy and like I said I used a whole Big bottle.. There are other cleaning way but this is the fastest to me. DONT USE WATER ..

Haha I thought about it but man my hand was soak in that horrible sludge lookking glob from inside the bearings. Maybe next time.

When or if you do it you will see what I mean. Its a mess.

I recommend it bro. Its a huge difference and it seems like the belt doesnt vibrate as much now either because its more smooth out.

we'll see when i get to do it. Seems like now working on the car is one of the things I hate most since I fix something and during that process I discover another broken part or thing that needs servicing. I still woulda wanted to see the gunk. haha

i would think that break parts cleaner would clean the bearings out more than wd40 would, and it evaporates fast.

^ might not be a good idea as Jim posted in another thread that the internals are teflon or somethign coated. IT may be too harsh and eventually stripi the coating off.

arg, just thought about that. Break parts cleaner eats away at most plastics.

Yeah Id be scared to use that. WD40 isnt really a cleaner to me. It just lubes and pressure all the old glug out. Then I use grease to keep it lubricated since WD40 is too liquified that it will all seek out eventually. USE grease since its a harder compound and wont dry out.

I just picked up ALL new pulleys....but I might try this first and return some of the new ones if this works just as well.

I was too since It got louder and louder. But after doing this for only 6-ish bucks heck I just saved me how much all those pulleys would cost me.

Did you have to take the whole idler plate assembly apart or just took off the belt and then removed individual pulleys?

For me Everything. I did every single bearing on that assembly. It was all horrrible. Its not that bad once you take it off.

^ do you think that it's a long-term solution? Were any of the actual bearings bad? or were they all just dirty?

Because I bought my kit used and it had a 9lbs racing pulley on it, so even though the s/c had been rebuilt, the pulleys are original and had taken a beating for sure
