Is my knock sensor blown???

Is my knock sensor blown???

Postby solow1605 » Fri Sep 08, 2006 6:43 pm

I threw a code today, P0330 which says Knock Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2). I dont know what to think, the car feels ok, but it keeps throwing the CEL. Could it be the wiring or is my all-too-creative-crap definitely blown? I'm runnin 5.5 and just got dynotuned w/ the safc, jim's fuel mod, the upgraded pump...

Pretty sure its blown. Even with all those mods it just reduces it. Toyota knock sensor are weak. Pretty sure you damaged it way back and now its flying out the code. If youve had your car in the higher RPM range yeah its blown.

ah code P0330... i remember the days... haha. Once it shows up, it may not show for another month or two but itll never go away. Only way around it is to change it out or tap it from the ECU to read off the good one (the rear). The front bank is prone to more knock while the rear reads false knock signals (whine from the s/c). Pick your poison. Right way to fix it is a bitch to do... and costly too.

They fix the problem, but they also create new problems.

Best thing to do is DO get the GM knock sensors and pay a pro to install then unless you want to do it yourself. First time I did it I succeed and Im not a pro. Just becareful when you screw the sensors in. I broke mine because I put too much pressure on it. The GM sensors ARE bigger and ARE more sensitive but because they are big they dont give up as fast. They are sensitive so if you dont tune right, it will retard and you will loose some power. I had to tune my car 3 times in 1 year to get my car to where it is now.

I do have supporting mods. I'm running Jim's Fuel Upgrade, an SAFC 2, an upgraded fuel pump, and i was SUPPOSED to have hte URD calibrator for the higher rpms, but they sent me the wrong one...
