Induction Type: Supercharger
Type of Motor: 1MZ-FE
Transmission: 5-Speed
Date Boosted: April 2008
Milage on Boost Date: 113K
Current Milage: 116K
Daily Driver, Seasonal, Weekend Car or Trailer Queen: Daily Driver
Boost Kit (or major component brands if custom): TRD Supercharger
PSI: First 4 months 4psi, Now 6psi
Management System: SAFC2,
Oil Used Since Boost: Valvoline High Mileage 5W-30
Oil Change Frequency: 3K
Most Recent Dyno Numbers and PSI: 230WHP/260.WTQ @ 6psi

Reason You Thought Your Setup Was The Best Choice For Your Needs:
This is the first car (of 4) that my name is actually on the title. I've always modded all of my cars, but I'm not holding anything back on the solara. I will drive this car until she dies.

What Kind Of Person Do You Think Your Setup Is Ideally Suited For?:
As said before, anyone looking for power and reliability with the styling to go along. With some basic mechanical knowledge, the solara can be easily tuned. However, prepare to spend some $.

Please List All Parts You Have Broken/Replaced That You Would Blame
On Being Boosted and What You Replaced Them With:

My bank 2 knock sensor blew 5 months after going to 6psi. I relocated the OEM sensor w/o any problems. I also smoked the stock clutch that only had 30k miles on it. Replaced that with a stage II Clutch Masters clutch, Fidanza flywheel, and Redline MT-90 trans oil.

Please List Any Service or CEL Codes You Have Had To Deal With Due To Boost:
PO401 - EGR Insufficient Flow Detected
PO330 - Knock Sensor 2 Circuit Malfunction

Gas Milage: 24mpg on 93 octane city/highway combined

Other Info You'd Like To Share:
On a conservative tune, I feel fine with running 6psi. To avoid hours on the dyno, I went back to the stock intake to make the MAF sensor happy and working with the SAFC2. My numbers show how much torque can be retained with the stock intake and exhaust.

Engine Mods:

I've always wanted to try the TRD S/C setup. I like the boost response, and the decent power add to the 1MZ. Also love the look on peoples faces when they hear a Lexus ES300 make that kind of noise!

Gen 3 camry SE V6

Induction Type: Supercharger
Type of Motor: 1Mz-Fe
Transmission: Auto
Date Boosted: november 08
Milage on Boost Date: 157,000
Current Milage: 173,000
Daily Driver, Seasonal, Weekend Car or Trailer Queen: DD
PSI: 4
Management System: none(yet)
Oil Used Since Boost: toyota synthetic blend
Oil Change Frequency: 3k
Most Recent Dyno Numbers and PSI: N/A (likely around 200whp)

Reason You Thought Your Setup Was The Best Choice For Your Needs: My DD has to be fun, even if it is still and automatic camry. i already had the SC from my gen4. Plus i love my car and wanted to make a project out of it.

What Kind Of Person Do You Think Your Setup Is Ideally Suited For?:
someone like me. i think a real power head would be pleased with anotehr setup or another vehicle all together. Its great for someone who wants a fun DD or who wants to play with their camry/solara in the 300whp or less range.

Please List All Parts You Have Broken/Replaced That You Would Blame
On Being Boosted and What You Replaced Them With:

- bosch spark plugs...replaced with NGK IK22s
- relocated knock sensors because its a common problem on the early 1mzs.
- had to remove EGR valve but its an early 1mz only problem. replaced it with resistors.

Please List Any Service or CEL Codes You Have Had To Deal With Due To Boost:
- bad cat

Gas Milage:
with no tune its not great, 20-25mpg id say. however its worse if i drive just outside of boost(0-10 vacuum) then in boost.

Other Info You'd Like To Share:
to take full advantage of this system id be prepaired to invest in the correct fuel exhaust and tuning bits before anything else. which isnt very expensive compared to other vehicles.

List of ENGINE MODS ONLY:
- TRD SC
- walboro 190lph
- obx headers/ypipe(the origonals  )

Daily Driver, Seasonal, Weekend Car or Trailer Queen: Seasonal / Weekend car
Boost Kit (or major component brands if custom): TRD Supercharger
PSI: 5.5psi...going to 6 psi soon
Management System: SAFC2
Oil Used Since Boost: Mobil 1 5w30
Oil Change Frequency: 3,000mi
Most Recent Dyno Numbers and PSI: 262WHP / 242 WTQ @ 5.5psi

Reason You Thought Your Setup Was The Best Choice For Your Needs
I bought the solara because of its unique style and the rarity of the 5 spd / 3.0 combo. I had a 5sfe/auto camry before. I loved the reliability and quality of the camry platform...but needed more power. I wanted a car that had respectable speed, sound design and a quality feel. The solara in it's stock form is respectable...but I wanted to take on the challenge of modding an uncommonly tuned platform. I wanted a challenge, but one that would be a head turner. A car that left people saying: "what kind of car is that? Supercharger?!?!?" I have never taken the easy route in life and my trials / challenges with pushing the solara platform to its limits is very similar to the way I live my life.

What Kind Of Person Do You Think Your Setup Is Ideally Suited For?:
You must be patient. You must be prepared to spend much more $ than expected. The parts cost is very cheap compared to the $ invested into dyno tuning. The solara, in the modded state, can provide many challenges as the aftermarket support is limited. Thanks to the solara online community, I have kept the pace with pushing my solara for more power. This car represents a sense of class, with fury under the hood. It is certainly a quiet giant, just waiting for someone unleash it. Relatively speaking, it has been reliable in it's supercharged state and that was an additional draw to going the TRD blower route, instead of custom FI. You must be willing to invest time into researching your mods and goals and have goals to keep you motivated when you feel like giving up.

Please List All Parts You Have Broken/Replaced That You Would Blame
On Being Boosted and What You Replaced Them With:
Knock Sensors (twice) - Replaced with GM the second time
Spark Plugs changed to Iridiums
installed Jim's Fuel Kit
installed Walbro 190 fuel pump
installed Supra NA 330cc injectors

Please List Any Service or CEL Codes You Have Had To Deal With Due To Boost:
I rarely trust any shop to work on my car...dealership won't touch it
2nd to 3rd synchro gets a bit stiff...Redline fluid helped tremendously
Lean codes before I tuned
Supra BBK (13" brembo rotors + 96 ES300 calipers + Goodrich Stainless Brake lines)
Knock sensor CEL
Tuned on 93 octane, only 1 gas station in the county that sells it

Gas Milage: 26mpg highway and 19mpg city (93 octane)

Other Info You'd Like To Share:
Now that I have put on the 3" OBX exhaust, I feel the need to go up to 6 psi boost. From 3.5k up to redline, this car is a beast. I have been tempted many times to drop the whole project and buy a newer GTO (400hp, stock), but the uniqueness of this car always draws me back (not to mention all the sweat I have put into it over the years).

I bought the solara knowing it was a nice car with luxury and some decent power especially because its a 5-speed. Little by little things started to change on the apperance of the car, the more i would see the car the more i knew this car is unique with style. Now that its boosted its better because of the fact that who in the hell is going to expect a solara is boosted, even more who the hell is going to imagine themselves being raped by one :)

What Kind Of Person Do You Think Your Setup Is Ideally Suited For?:

Me, and those who want to have a nice car with some power to it.

Thats what makes it the best when i get in and drive it.

Car: 1994 Camry V6 LE
Induction Type: Turbo & Supercharger
Type of Motor: 1MZ-FE
Transmission: Auto
Date Boosted: November 2002
Mileage on Boost Date: 56K miles
Current Mileage: 115K miles

Daily Driver, Seasonal, Weekend Car or Trailer Queen: A bit of everything over the years. Right now it is my daily driver.

Boost Kit (or major component brands if custom): HKS T51R and TRD Supercharger
PSI: Now at 26 PSI
Management System: AEM 1060 EMS

Oil Used Since Boost: Amsoil 10w-40, later to Amsoil 15w-50
Oil Change Frequency: 2500-2800 miles, or after every dyno session

Most Recent Dyno Numbers and PSI: 567WHP @ 468 WTQ @ 26psi
Reason You Thought Your Setup Was The Best Choice For Your Needs:
I don't really "need" the power, but it's sure fun to have it though! A fast Camry is just way too much fun, and it's really good at 500-600 WHP levels for this car. Enough power to light up the tires on demand, but totally controllable with the auto trans. It's a jaw dropper if you meet up with the right people.

What Kind Of Person Do You Think Your Setup Is Ideally Suited For?:
I never encourage street racing, but I do believe there is a good moment for some nice pulls at the early morning hours with no traffic. But this setup is a lot of fun for those who want to have the ultimate sleeper and for those who are especially attached to their Camry or Solara. Yet this car that is still practical, 4 doors, full interior, A/C, a decent sound system and still be able to drive your family around on the weekends with no embarassment or tons of explanation to your parents...lol

Please List All Parts You Have Broken/Replaced That You Would Blame
On Being Boosted and What You Replaced Them With:

Both knock sensors, stock automatic transmission at 10PSI (300 WHP), stock headgasket, a set of forged pistons (E-manage days at 400+ WHP), stock dog bone mount, stock front engine mount, stock front transmission mount, stock ACIS butterfly plate, stock coil packs.

Please List Any Service or CEL Codes You Have Had To Deal With Due To Boost:
Fuel trim too rich (E-manage days)
Knock sensor code (before sensor relocation)
EGR code (E-manage days)
Gas Mileage: 19 MPG mosty city on 94 oct

Other Info You'd Like To Share:
If I were to build the setup all over again, I could have done it with half the parts. A lot of things in my build now aren't truly necessary, but due to myself being a pioneer, it's better safe than sorry type approach. I am very happy with the car, and still my favourite car to drive and I intend to drive it as much as I can.

I wanted boost very badly right after i finished my v6 5speed swap from i4 auto. Reason You Thought Your Setup Was The Best Choice For Your Needs
This car has sentimental value to me. It is my first car and will be for a very long time, i fully intend to keep it long enough for my son (in the future, far future) to enjoy one day. The car, even through the years has held on to be aesthetically pleasing even compared to today;s modern day cars. And, even after all the mods, it still gets great gas mileage 25mpg hwy// 20 interstate. The car is subtle enough around town but really opens up and shines with its power when i need it to do so. Plus, not many people know of what kind of car or what its capabilities are, which is always a plus. People like things different, it creates attraction, and i think Solaras do so with class and character.

What Kind Of Person Do You Think Your Setup Is Ideally Suited For?:
Definitely a person who has patience in this platform. Quality parts are hard to come by and a 500-600 dollars put into any other car can achieve magnificent gains while on our platform, it is good enough for a couple of extra ponies. =/ But, at the end of the day, to be different, you must be willing to sacrifice conforming to the norm and spend alot of money and have extra patience.

Please List All Parts You Have Broken/Replaced That You Would Blame
On Being Boosted and What You Replaced Them With:

Knock Sensor

Please List Any Service or CEL Codes You Have Had To Deal With Due To Boost:
P0171//P0174 These two CEL codes were to blame for much of my frustration in this platform, in the end, a good tune was all that was needed.
P0420 This is attributed to having a gutted Catalytic Converter, will be fixing soon with anti-fowlers modification
P0401 Not sure yet how i will be fixing this...i might just sea foam or i might replace the whole EGR system

Gas Milage: 22-26 MPG HWY//18-20 City Driving

Other Info You'd Like To Share:
At this point in my platform, I am extremely happy with the setup. When the money comes in, i fully intend on doing a 5 speed swap but of course with all this power, i have to upgrade all parts of the swap...upgraded clutches//flywheel//LSD//etc. before starting. This will easily cost 5K with all the right parts i want...but you should always do it right the first time...ive learned that the hard way playing around with this platform.
