CEL Idle Control Malfunction (Need HELP)

Postby solow1605 » Thu Aug 17, 2006 12:43 pm

I threw a CEL this afternoon and it says that my idle control system is malfunctioning. The car is idling a bit high and it sounds like a turbo spooling up when i rev it a little bit. So i'm guessing its a vacuum leak. Can anyone give me some input on this?

idle control error happened to me when my car got hydro-locked. Try cleaning all the sensors up to the supercharger and make sure all the hoses are clean/free flowing too. Not the same but a little related is the EGR code when a hose would get bent/too curved that it would give low readings. Clean the MAF, throttle body sensors, etc by disconnecting them and use electronics cleaner to make sure they got good contact.

My EGR was loose and threw a CEL last week. Tightened it up, I also just cleaned out my throttle body after installing the throttle body spacer. Could this have something to do with it?

Just in case someone cares, after 3 days of working on figuring out what was wrong with my car, i took off the throttle body disconnected and reconnected all my vacuum hoses and found out that the hoses were the problem. The car is now idling at around 850 which i think is acceptable and wont throw a CEL (someone correct me if i'm wrong). I'm so happy, i think i need to get longer hoses tho.
