IK22 vs. IK20

IK22 vs. IK20

Postby HaliGuy69 » Thu Aug 17, 2006 6:25 am

I know one of these (IK20?) are normally just used for S/C application but is there any harm running them on a non-S/C vehicle? Im trying to find a charger but the plugs are due to be changed and I'd rather not have to change them again when I find a charger. Thanks for your help guys. And if anyone has a S/C for an Automatic for sale PM me.

IK-22's are for supercharged, the IK-20's are for stock. Get the right one.

The IK22 are one step colder for the S/C. . . I wouldn't suggest using the one step colder for a N/A application

Is there a big difference between the IK20 and 22's? Im charged but I was about to go buy the IK20s to be safe, do I run any risk using the IK22's??? Thanx

You run a risk by running the IK20s. Run the IK22s if your S/Ced.

If you run plugs too hot, it can cause pre-detonation and knocking.

I was reading on the denso website, and it said that the colder spark plugs aren't recommended for daily stop and go traffic. And in LA thats all there is. They are recommended for racing whereas the engine heats up to higher temps where these spark plugs help dissipate the heat more efficiently

Just to be an A$$Hole..... :)

If you flippin blowing money on a supercharger blow money on the god dam right plugs fuckers. If your not or will be blowing money on a supercharger then the other plug until you do. Whats more important? installing the right plugs and getting whats worth out of your toyota or being a screwed up carless mofo and screwing your car overbecause you tried to "save" time.. Its call R&D. if its said to be bad, its so. Nuff said :)

For sleeper.. I think its never safe to run boost daily anyways even if its facotry. Anything will kill our engines sooner or later because heats everywhere. I also think if you change your plugs more often that reduces that issue?. Thats why you and I have fun raping them V8s while it lasts hahah.

So is it safe to assume the IK20 are direct replacements and 22's are for better performance?
