5.5 vs. 6 psi?!!!

5.5 vs. 6 psi?!!!

Postby solow1605 » Mon Aug 14, 2006 9:32 am

Well, its time for me to upgrade the boost. I can't decide between 5.5 psi and 6. Someone with 6 told me that half a psi isn't going to make a difference but there's just something abotu the difference between those two numbers that makes me uneasy. Is there going to be much difference between the two in terms of reliability and horsepower? Anyways, if someone has 6 can you give me the belt size too?

Go 5.5. Dont get greedy and hit 6. Average 5who increase isnt worth the trouble it causes.

I installed the TRD (for 02/03 Tacoma - PTR01-35020-05) boost gauge on my van.
Though I have the 2.9"- 5.5psi pulley, I'm surpise to see that the boost is reaching the 6psi mark on the gauge especially when climbing steep hills.

So, just go with the safer 5.5 psi. Replacing the knock sensors is a pain and costly.

You may be thinking that going from 4 - 5.5 psi is not a big increase in boost, but you can really feel more power, torque and full boost earlier in the RPM. From a seat of your pants dyno, no question.

hmmm so if 5.5 is a 2.9inch pully... then 3.0inch is 5psi exactly right? im wanting to bump up boost but not to 5.5 psi worth. If since its been a while, everyone gets the pully boys brand right?
