Tuning questions

Postby Grazi07 » Mon Mar 27, 2006 9:21 pm

In my possession right now are 318cc injectors, the 190 lph fuel pump, Gabe's TT MAF, and an S-AFCII, and a partridge in a pear tree. I know that to run these efficiently, a full out tuning is needed, but in the meantime can I run these with the 6 lb pulley safely?

I've never used an S-AFCII, any advice?

Bring it to a dyno after everything is installed see where your air fuel ratio is at.

I wouldn't. Leave the 4lb. pulley on there until you can get to a dyno. Let them put the pulley on and dyno it from there.

i'd say that i'd be best to do a return style gas line that Jim mentioned

I run very safely with:

URD fuel pump upgrade
Jim's fuel kit
(injectors are stock)

I guess it depends on what your goals are as to whether you want to add an S-AFC or a Split Second unit to tune. For me, I just wanted my car to run safely (ie. have enough fuel output) given the addition of my 6psi S/C and CAI. It runs smooth and has very good pickup. I recently added the fuel pump and that smoothed out the slight sputtering in acceleration that I used to have.

Thanks guys for the info. So its really the injectors and the MAF that require the tuning? I'm a 4psi now with Jims mod and I'm sitting on the walbro 190 lph pump... anyone else have similar mods to Ian?

Ian and I have basically the same setup (except he chose not to upgrade his injectors). Personal choice I guess...from what I hear the injectors seem to do an ok job with the extra demand, according to Jim (I think that's who was talking about it, correct me if I'm wrong). You'd be all right installing the fuel pump and getting to a dyno later, that's what I did and didn't have any problems, of course I was running extremely rich when I did the dyno, but I also had injectors too.

so getting the injectors is not necessary then? is that correct? i remember hearing that from someone here.

if that's the case i should be safe just getting the URD fuel pump (NOT the whole kit) and Jim's fuel kit???

I'm looking for the wiring diagram for the S-AFCII... the manual doesn't list the solara/camry/scepter platform, anyone know which diagram to use?
