For those with the SC - How long did it take you to replace your knock sensor?

If you took it to a dealer/shop, how many hours did they charge you for?

I'm assuming that the SC has to come off, but does it need to be removed from the intake manifold, or can you just unbolt the belt and support?

Has anyone had success getting the dealer to cover it?

Where is the best place to buy the sensors?

I failed NJ state inspection and its crunch time to get it fixed.

Thanks in advance

I blew mine without the S/C and it required the removal of the intake manifold to replace them. My shop got them installed in about 3 hours, which cost me $120 for labor (sponsored) and $350 for the parts. If you check online, you can probably find them cheaper. PM Thakidd, he knows a good site to get them from.

Good luck!

4 hours once I got the part

If you took it to a dealer/shop, how many hours did they charge you for? Dealership wanted $500 including part. Not bad ,but I like to turn my own wrenches and I'm cheap.

You have to take off the SC, and the lower intake manifold. MAKE SURE YOU DRAIN ALLL OF THE COOLANT. Trust me.

My mileage was beyond warranty,I didnt even ask.

I only checked the dealer. Once I saw what was involved,I was not gonna cut corners.I was told by the tech that works on my car when I dont have time, there are two brands and you dont know which one until you get it out. Maybe he was full of crap but all the dealers in my area told me the same thing(yes I checked, yes I have trust issues). Theres Matstushita(sp) and another which I cant remember.
