Ok.. Im not hidding much so lets get it loose.. Im boosted (yeay me).... But my problem is even with the PDF and all, the wiring for my car seem just off. Im non californian and I have a 5 speed. Yet when I try to match the PDF for the manuel EBC tapping to the ECU diagram.. It just doesnt match. Like the ECU E7 pin 13 on the diagram for one of the wires. On the ECU pin 13 on E7 doesnt even have a line to tap...

Someone PLEASEEEEE put some time if they are not cali spec and have a manuel SC to please open their glove box up and take pics where each line was tapped... I really want to have it tapped. I know if reduces power with the Piggy EBC.. But I just want it on for now. I really need pics of where it was all tapped. I have all the ground tapped.. Just the main 3 lines I have no idea. I dont even know where ll2 is at in the car.

i vaguely remember that you don't need to connect 1 of the wires.

technically, you don't even need to hook up the ebc since you're manual.

ebc just dumps boost at redline to prevent over boost.

but how often do you go above redline ?

(in addition for autos it cuts boost b/w shifts so you dont scrooge your trans.)

LOL... The Avitar Mole's using is from the Fresh Prince of Belair. It's Alfonso Ribeiro as Carlton Banks dancing away. :D It's pretty kool.

Hmm Guess I wont install it for awhile... It just kinda worries me.. Ive always seen the supercharger term as instant boost.. But when I raced a Z28 yesterday meaning I pushed my car all out for the first time. I notice it wasnt as instant.. It had like 3 stage kick or soemthing.. Like at 2 rpm little boost, then 3 more boost, 4 I start hearing the whine and more boost... 5 is when the boost is just over welming.. Like you actually feel the difference in jerks at those rpm rather a smmoth all out boost in all range..Is that normal?

Maybe if you get a smaller pulley than you will get more boost that would please you????

Personally i like turbos. 8)
Cause i drove the SS charged Colbolt, and a STR-4 Neon.
And man i love the turbo way better, maybe caues of the kick i get from the Neon. :D

I H8 Turbos

Postby JMSinMaryland » Thu Dec 01, 2005 9:50 am

Just to reply to the first post. I hate turbos because of the kick. As they say there is no replacement for displacement and the supercharger to me feels like it is always there with no lag as if I was driving a V8.

To reply to Dats, the supercharger should not kick, it should be a smooth trans and they only way you should be able to monitor psi is through a gauge not by feeling it throughout your acceleration curve.

I have also had the EBC on my Solara and no EBC on the Camry. The only difference I felt having owned both is that when the tachometer redlines the boost cuts off. I would think the EBC on an auto is more important. For us manuals I just don't accelerate while changing gears.

dats, just skip the ebc and from the bottom port of the s/c, route that hose right up to the actuator/wategate. It should be hooked up the way it says in the original TRD hose diagram. with the ebc/supplement packet revision hosing it will hardly give you boost. I have an auto and use the original setup bypassing the ebc and its great. I race my brothers car and lets just say that it makes the difference between me losing vs. now flying past him easily.

just look at the original TRD install manual. The supplement has all that nonsense which reroutes the hose down to the canister and finally to the actuator. Simply just go from the barb on the bottom of the s/c (its right after the throttle body) and make it go straight to the actuator. Be warned, you wont have a capped boost @ 1st gear in auto and you will be boosting even between shifts.

its safe as long as you dont abuse your car too much and do regular maint. Jim with the fuel lines has had it that way since forever as well as Vampire who did it to his auto s/c camry + 5sp s/c solara. Its all a personal choice, but I prefer to have boost on demand instead of when the ebc wants to.
