The only turbocharged Solara on the forum that I know of is "TurboSolara" (Gen.1, I4) and Rizal "Shidosha01" (Gen.1, V6) is currently working on a turbo for his ryde.

Me and this shop I was with custom one up for another V6 as a test. Only problem is doing one on stock internal isnt much of fun. Even with just fuel upgrade and all you cant boost high and long enough to run the car smoothly unless you invest allot more to redo the internal. For our prototype we made, our max was 6lb and even with the waste gate we were putting allot of stress on the car and turbo itself... But you get something going let us know. Til then Im running nos which is cheaper if you know how to use it and not blow the motor which I wont be..

Here was a one made for a V6 probe which is weak as our motors can be. 6lb max was its best which also spoiled up too quick so waste gate had to be used. Even then that was allot of stress on the bearings. Car is still being work out and all.

There was another one made with a smaller turbo again for a V6 but on a 95 camry....That didnt go so well...Good luck on your car.. Hope you break through some smack me hard. Girls are more capable then guys I admit..

hello hottie, your car is very new and i would not recommend to mess with it. to have a properly set up turbo kit, you need to prepare about $7000 budget in hand and a back up car.

i think as for power, you can have a custom catback exhaut with 2.5" or 2.75" piping. that will help you gain about 5hp on the wheel and lot of noise. and i think injen had intake kit for the 05 v6 already? and also maybe get a ECU flash to get better response.

Truth be told, the safest way to go as far as getting your car a blowjob (had to say it, sorry) is to supercharge it. Turbocharging is great if you can crank the boost up - but with only 6lb of boost, you'd be better going with a TRD supercharger, 6 PSI pulley, fuel line upgrade and such. It's designed to work with the Solara and a lot less of a headache - without that nasty turbo lag (as a friend of mine says - God invented turbo lag to give V8s a chance to catch up).

That is, unless you have a four-banger or a Gen 2 Solara... in which case you're either 1) waiting for the Scion tC's boost system or 2) out of luck, with a Gen 2.

I agree with turbosolara about how pricey it may cost to tweak it out. I say a budget of $15,000.00 all custom parts and labor. I've read somewhere that the 3mz motor has forged connecting rods and metal head gaskets but I'm not sure how reliable the source is. You may want to ask your local toyota dealer about the material of the other internals. Another thing that would be difficult to work around is the shift points and strength of the auto tranny under boost. Keep us posted with what you're gonna do. The first turbocharged 3mz maybe? :o

i think 3mz has high compression like 11:1? such high compression cannot be boost friendly. and also engine room is another issue. i think the gen2 engine room is hella tiny. i even think gen2 has smaller engine room (but deeper) then gen 1.

A little off topic, but the Tabasco turbo project pics are great. Any plans on wrapping the piping in heat tape?
